I want to express to you all how excited I am about the clarification of our strategy at MCC which allows us clear plans for accomplishing the mission and vision of MCC. As you know we are all about loving God profoundly, loving people passionately and serving both. And we do this so that everyone in greater Cincinnati will have an opportunity to experience the transforming reality of Jesus Christ and engage in missional living in our city and around the world. Never before have I seen and heard so many folks talking about and demonstrating the difference God's love is making in them and through them to others. It is very exciting to see our church take church “beyond the walls”, and to see so many people being impacted by God's love.
With the clarification of our vision, we have had an opportunity to ask ourselves, as Jim Collins would say, "Do we have the right people on the bus to make this happen?" In many respects we do and in some respects we do not. So that will call for changes. So as excited as I am about the clarification of our vision, that is tempered with a bit of sadness knowing that some of the folks I have been working with I will no longer work with in the days to come. We have grown over the last years and have come to a place of needing to focus on our new vision through finances, ministries and staffing. We have trimmed back in some areas to be able to emphasize other areas, so that we can have the most impact in our city. This strategy and focus has led us to make some tough decisions about which roles have the most impact in the immediate future. So for some of our staff, it is time to move on as we place new folks in those strategic positions to help us accomplish our vision. Still other positions simply cannot continue due to budget priorities so that we can carry out our plans and strategies to reach and touch the city and the world with God's love.
As we move ahead with this strategy in our leadership I am confident that we will continue to grow both spiritually and numerically to reach and touch our city and the world with God's amazing love. Thanks for being a part of this amazing journey with us and for understanding where we are headed and how we are going to get there. Please help us communicate this to everyone as we lock arms and move ahead together in 2010.
peace,
Pastor Tom Lipsey
