**2011 Crosstown Trip**

October 8, 2011: Almost immediately, there is a connection between the American kids and the French-Creole speaking Haitian kids, expedited by the universal language of soccer.  The kids giggle and shout as they kick the soccer ball, slide randomly, and tumble seat first or face first into the mud.  Colin and several Gray kids join the soccer game. Janiel jumps right into the game, overcoming his passion for spotlessly clean shoes.

Montgomery Community Church continues its decade-long ministry in the Dominican Republic: Batey San Jose, Batey Las Javillas and the ministry at El Redil Church in San Cristobal.  Madeline Flores, our ABC Missionary, helps coordinate each mission team visit. We partner to build schools, latrines and water systems, leading VBS sessions to bless children, and investing in the women of the communities.

Partnering with the Gray Family in the Dominican Republic

The seed was planted in the hearts of the Gray family who attend MCC early in the Fall of 2010. They began thinking they were being called to overseas mission work, but didn't know to what capacity. When Matt Garretson, another MCC attender, approached them with the idea that they could go down to the Dominican Republic for a year, the Grays knew this was their window. They had a passion for providing clean water but didn't know how they would be supported as a family of 9 for an entire year. The Garretsons responded that the finances would be taken care of with the help of a foundation that was started to serve purposes just like this project.

So beginning December 31, 2009, David and Kate Gray packed up their stuff and with their 7 kids, left all they knew that was comfortable behind to go on mission with God to provide clean water to the people of Dominican Republic and Haiti. Since then, we have seen and heard updates from their time down there both from their blog and videos that have been captured while the Garretsons have visited the Grays. Their story is an incredible one of living missionally and choosing to leave all that is familiar behind to pursue the mind and heart of Christ in the broken and dying areas of the Dominican Republic. Watch these videos that document the process up to their departure and their progress so far.

The Grays are excited to welcome MCC's Crosstown Children's ministry as they spend a week in the D.R. serving alongside with the Grays and bringing over $10,000 for their cause which was raised during the Vacation Bible School week in early June. What a joy it is to not only comission a family from MCC to do this life changing work in the D.R., but also come alongside them with our time and resources to support them as they do God's work.
